The GREAT LAKE MONSTER!

Tjena from Borlange! If you can't tell the Americans, Sarra, Sarah, and Chelsea got picked to write the blog post for this week :). Hope you enjoy it!

Let's start off by recapping last weekend's game. We ended up tieing again this week...1-1. Michaela Hermansson, our left outside mid, had an amazing shot from 30 yards out. She beat one of Danmark's defenders and rocketed a shot that hit off the right post and went into the left corner of the net. MYCKET BRA MICKAN! We had most of the play in the first 30 minutes of the game, but then Danmarks came to life and pressured us for the rest of the half. They also came out very strong in the beginning of the second half, scoring a quick goal in the first 10 minutes of play. One of their outside mids was able to get a cross off, and sailed the ball into our box, where a Danmarks forward headed it in. After they scored we picked up our intensity and controlled most of the possession for the rest of the game, but our efforts weren't enough, and a point was all we were able to come away with.

Next week we travel to Ostersunds to battle Ostersunds and the GREAT LAKE MONSTER! We're not sure if all Swedish people are aware of who or what the Great Lake Monster is, but one of our friends informed us that Ostersunds is the home to a half cat-half snake like creature that lives in Lake Storsjon. Here's the tale below...

"A long, long time ago two trolls, Jata and Kata, stood on the shores of the Great-Lake brewing a concoction in their cauldrons. They brewed and mixed and added to the liquid for days and weeks and years. They knew not what would result from their brew but they wondered about it a great deal. One evening there was heard a strange sound from one of their cauldrons. There was a wailing, a groaning and a crying, then suddenly came a loud bang. A strange animal with a black serpentine body and a cat-like head jumped out of the cauldron and disappeared into the lake. The monster enjoyed living in the lake, grew unbelievably larger and awakened terror among the people whenever it appeared. Finally, it extended all the way round the island of Frösön, and could even bite its own tail. Ketil Runske bound the mighty monster with a strong spell which was carved on a stone and raised on the island of Frösön. The serpent was pictured on the stone. Thus was the spell to be tied till the day someone came who could read and understand the inscription on the stone."

Since we arrive in Ostersunds the day before our game, we Americans plan on finding Jata and Kata, who will help lead us to the Great Lake Monster :)

Of course we will get enough rest and relaxation before the game...Since our 2-week break we've been having trouble finding our rhythm, but hopefully we can get back into the swing of things and come away with the three points we need to put us back on the top of the table!

Best of luck to all the other teams playing this weekend...oh and PS...KOM IGEN USA :)
